Brazilian Naval Market Sees Impressive Growth of 30% in Rio and 20% Nationwide Over Five Years

In the past five years, the Brazilian naval market has experienced significant growth, with a 30% increase in job positions in the state of Rio de Janeiro and 20% nationwide between 2019 and 2023, according to data from the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan). This growth continued into 2024, with a 4.8% rise in Rio de Janeiro and 4.2% across Brazil in the first five months of the year compared to the same period in 2023.

In total, 178,000 jobs were recorded in the sector during the analyzed period, highlighting the substantial expansion of this strategic industry for Brazil's economy.

The data, presented in the 6th edition of the Panorama Naval in Rio, was unveiled at an event at Firjan’s headquarters on Tuesday (8/20), with the participation of industry leaders and public authorities. The research was conducted based on the Economic Activity Classifications (CNAEs) related to the naval market, reflecting the sustainable growth and new opportunities the sector is creating.
