I’m Saying Bravo to BRAVO.
An alert dropped into my inbox on Friday; “You’ve been recognised for Teamwork & Collaboration”.
A colleague in our BI WORLDWIDE Minneapolis office had sent me a public recognition via our internal employee platform BRAVO.?
Nice.?
A cute little animated postcard and some lovely words thanking me for recent work on a global pitch. As a bonus, they threw in 50 BRAVO Award Points as a thank you. Again, I thought, “nice touch”.
And then I thought what the heck, it’s 3pm on a Friday afternoon and I could do with a break.?I opened my account on the platform to check my awards balance. Holy Moly. I’d accumulated 300 points over the last 3 months.
What could I redeem these lovely points for I wonder?

'Click’, I went into the Experiences Marketplace.?Hunter Valley tours, Jet Boat rides on Sydney Harbour….a Cookie & Cake tour through The Rocks. All very appealing, and yet, I had to wonder if they had the new Apple Watch available to cash my points in for.
‘Click’ again, and I’m in Rewards Marketplace.?Search in products and yes, there it was, a gorgeous sports version in three colours, the first option available from 1,700 points. So, I make the decision then and there to sit tight, try to earn more points and get that Apple Watch in time for City2Surf later this year.?Got to have a goal they always say!
I cruise around the platform; find a quiz on our technology I can do to get some more points.?Open a message from our CEO (complete with fireworks) thanking me for my 1-year tenure with the company. Notice that I have discretionary points I can allocate to co-workers. Send out recognitions to team members with points attached as a thank you. Log out. Feel good. Feel connected. Feel proud.?
Sitting with my coffee Monday morning I realised something. My behaviour yesterday was exactly what my company wanted, and it achieved the desired result in how I felt about the team I was a part of.
