The Brave Web Browser

Let me start with this; After installing the Brave Web Browser and taking it for a test drive, they won me over. I have adopted it as my default browser. If that's good enough for you, here's the link! https://brave.com/ :-P
That stated, I HIGHLY recommend checking out "The Brave New Browser." (Aldous Huxley would love that pun.)

I am giving it 5 stars and here's why:
For starters, Brave Web Browser was built on the Chromium Platform so it is highly compatible with Chrome Store extensions. If you are addicted to your system draining extension, you will be able to continue that behavior. As for me, I am running Brave clean and fast with my overloaded Chrome on stand-by for extension tasks like data mining and social workflow hacks.
Aside from Brave Browser's refreshing speed, my favorite aspect of this browser is its security interface, ad blocking features, and straight forward controls. The Brave settings interface puts everything that chrome and more in one place providing more control and simplifying the whole experience. No more digging around feeling like an idiot searching for something that "there must be a setting for" and often isn't
Brave puts it all in front of you making you an instant browser security expert. And, did I mention...
How is it so much faster than Google Chrome when it is built on Google Chrome?
Brave achieves this in 2 ways, omitting and prohibiting.
- Brave doesn't pre-load you down with built-in trackers and triggers that are being used to record and monetize your every move like the overstuffed browser giants.
- Brave natively blocks non-essential requests, cookies, ads, and more.
With the load that all of this monitoring, data recording, and ad serving code is absent, blocked, removed, and or ignored, the load on the system is released efficiently. The code that runs is very light in resources and cost less power to run that the processes it prevents.
Out of the box Brave's preferences are preset to provide a pleasant balance between security and functionality. I believe that the settings are good for most users. Of course, you have full control to tighten or loosen its constraints.
After just one trip to Facebook loading 3 pages, Brave stopped 8 tracking cookies and 69 ad-related data exchanges.
Nearing the end of this article, a jaw-dropping about of activity was prevented.
Importing settings from other browsers was super easy, seamless, and comprehensive. With one click and a confirmation, It easily imported all of my chrome settings, bookmarks, form fills, passwords, everything, Just one click.
Frankly, seamless and comprehensive migrating from Chrome was somewhat expected considering Brave was developed on the Chromium Platform. The pleasant surprise was that it performed similarly while importing Edge, IE, and Firefox.
- streamlined design loads FAST
- clean and crisp interface/intuitive
- robust & easy to access privacy/security controls
- remembers site authentication information
- native ad blocker
- displays statistics about blocked content
- preview the content of tabs
- built on Chromium, you use Chrome extensions
Negative! But if I must find SOMETHING to pick on, it is this...
Confusing Rewards Option
I couldn't really come up with ANY cons. The only thing that I could come up with was simplifying the description of the optional rewards program.
Like Bing, Brave has an optional rewards program. While running the program I did not observe a noticeable speed difference, The negative is the way that it is explained. The structure and description of how the rewards program worked could be more clear for those that are not block-chain or bitcoin savvy. That said, once I figured it out, it was really cool. I am not going to review the rewards program here, it is not why I recommend the browser and it is optional.
So there you have it, my down and not so dirty look at the great Brave Web Browser.
I am giving this an enthusiastic THUMBS UP!
Please tell us what YOU think about Brave! If you have something great to say, or if you tried it and got some sour grapes, we would love to know!

5 年Chris Bangs, to be honest, prior to reading this, I never heard of Brave. I read and scrutinized everything I could and decided to give it a try. I agree with you a million percent that the rewards program is very confusing! Plus, using the term "content creators" as the recipients of tips had me scratching my head - until I realized they were referring to website owners! LOL I've got everything setup, imported my bookmarks, etc., and it really is incredibly faster. During my setup though, I noticed the options page was pretty much identical to the settings for Chrome. Then when I added a couple of extensions I like to use, it's grabbing Chrome extensions in the Chrome Web Store! I normally use Chrome, so I'm not complaining, but it feels like a very fast, private, and secure version of Google Chrome.
