BRAVE LEADERSHIP

BRAVE LEADERSHIP

Webster defines "brave" as having or showing courage -- the mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty.

Nelson Mandela said “I’ve learnt that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

An essential behavior for any leader is the act of bravery. It is the ability to do what you know to be right and keep doing it until you succeed. There are many Leaders who have exemplified this over the years.

Bravery is not attributed to everyone, but is reserved for those whose innovation in their industry and field caused them to stand out from the crowd. Whose unyielding effort and error push their countries, organizations and communities into new territories, and whose boldness compels them to stand. These are The Brave Ones.

The Brave Ones have existed throughout history. Some are unforgettable icons, others names will never be remembered. They exist across all industries, societies, and at every level of leadership.

Today I want to challenge us to be Brave, and look at a couple of things that some may consider simple or mundane.

One such simple idea is building a culture for our citizens, employees and members. An idea that drives us to be courageous enough to speak the truth and hold others accountable. To live by example and walk the way we talk, becoming congruent and being living testimonies of that which we speak. To build a legacy of high achievements, and enable our people to grow and thrive. Today I stand and challenge us all to think about the legacy we’re leaving for our people. As leaders what do we stand for; who are we becoming and are we brave enough and courageous enough to become someone that others want to follow?

Join us at Leadercast Bridgetown on May 8, 2015 as we explore The Brave Ones, and learn what it means to lead in such a way that creates bold cultures, builds faithful employees, and produces high achievements.
