Be Brave, Be Generous, & Dare to Lead
"Fans, true fans, are hard to find and precious. Just a few can change everything. What they demand, though, is generosity and bravery." ?

Dear Menders,
I'm writing to let you know that I've decided to pause the Menders newsletter and blog for a while.
My work is shifting directions and pulling me to invest more time and energy into my research. In case you're wondering, I work on developing brief mental health interventions for populations with limited access to mental health treatment. And I'm involved with training and capacity-building projects to equip mental health professionals who serve under-resourced populations.
For the psychology nerds among you, I specialize in transdiagnostic Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness, which I love because they translate well across settings and cultures and are designed to be flexible and empowering.
And a special note - these therapeutic approaches are incredibly effective leadership tools! Use them to promote self-awareness, creativity, and employee engagement and motivate movement toward your organization's guiding values.
My next stop is Honduras.
I'm heading south to join colleagues for a Train-the-Trainer event at the end of the month. We'll train mental health clinicians to teach these interventions to community health workers serving women experiencing interpersonal violence.
One of my true fans (and professional mentors) invited me to collaborate on this project. And I am so grateful for the chance to say yes.
Be Brave. Be Generous. And Dare to Lead.
All my best
Nicola
p.s. I'll take photos and share an update after I return. You'll probably see me wearing some version of my big floppy hat!
