Braskem (BRKM5) Begins Operation of "Brillant Future," Its First Biofuel-Powered Ship Focused on Logistical Efficiency

This Friday (Feb 14), Braskem announced the launch of the Brillant Future, its first leased vessel, marking a strategic advancement in sustainable logistics. Valued at $80 million, the vessel will be responsible for transporting ethane between the U.S. and Mexico and is part of the Seas of the Future project—an initiative aimed at optimizing the maritime transport of chemical products, reducing costs, and enhancing the company's competitiveness.

?? Vessel Highlights: ? Innovative Design: Built in China, the ship maximizes cargo space with three StarTrilobe tanks, providing a 25% increase in storage capacity compared to traditional tanks. ? Energy Efficiency: At 188 meters in length and with a 36,000 m3 capacity, the vessel can transport cargo at temperatures as low as -104°C. ? Lower Emissions, More Sustainability: Its dual-fuel engine operates on bunker oil and ethane, cutting CO? emissions by 40% while ensuring high propulsion efficiency. ? Fleet Expansion: The Brillant Future is part of a six-ship fleet, with the next vessel scheduled for launch in June, further strengthening logistics on the U.S.-Mexico route.

?? "This vessel represents a strategic leap for Braskem, combining innovation, efficiency, and sustainability to make maritime transportation more competitive and environmentally responsible," says Silvia Migueles, Braskem’s Logistics Director.

?? With this initiative, Braskem reaffirms its commitment to innovation and reducing environmental impact in the maritime transport sector. ???
