Brands of the Week Issue #7
Pearlfinders | The Sales Intelligence Platform
Better Insights · Smarter Selling
Welcome to our final edition of 2023. From the vast numbers of brands and buying signals covered on the platform, this week we've picked a luxury fashion group launching into new categories, and a cosy American fashion giant looking to fend off dupes and challengers in 2024. Both brands are popular at Christmas and have very different challenges to solve if they're going to succeed in 2024!
Philipp Plein predicted to review sponsorship strategy as it expands sportswear brand?
Buying Signals include:-??
?? Analysis??
Given Philipp Plein’s history of high-profile football partnerships, the recent conclusion of its deal with Atletico Madrid and the absence of budget allocation in this area signals an opportunity for European properties to approach. While its previous partnerships have typically been through the Philipp Plein brand, the ongoing transformation and expansion of Plein Sport may lead to this becoming a future area of focus as it seeks to engage with consumers in the premium-affordable fitness space. We think the brand will also explore social media and influencer activity as it looks to drive awareness for its upcoming launch into the beachwear category. Clients can view the full report here.

?? Analysis??
We expect that the new EMEA Senior Marketing Director will review marketing strategy at both UK and European levels. The LinkedIn job description hints that the brand is about to move into its “next phase of sustained growth and expansion” adding weight to the suggestion that a strategy review is imminent. The success of the UGG brand over Q2 also suggests that there may be increased resources available to fund an increase in marketing investment. We expect that, as mentioned in our previous in-depth here, UGG will continue to highlight the superiority of its products compared to lower-quality dupes. Clients can view the full report here.??
