Brandish partners with AAO to launch a campaign to encourage Albertans to book their annual eye health appointments.
Brandish partnered with the Alberta Association of Optometrists (AAO) to launch the ‘Eyes Need Care Too’ campaign, a creative initiative designed to encourage Albertans to book their annual eye exams. The campaign taps into the relatable resistance parents face when instilling healthy habits – for example, eating vegetables, bathing, and brushing their teeth, illustrating by comparison that making a habit of booking an optometrist appointment can be easy.?
Launched on July 8th, the campaign intentionally uses digital platforms and out-of-home advertisements to ensure broad visibility across Alberta, Canada, bringing awareness about the ease and significance of eye health to all.?
"Regular eye exams are an essential part of preventative healthcare, especially for children and seniors. Your optometrist will check for healthy eye development and monitor for signs of eye diseases, such as glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy. Some issues may not present symptoms or immediately affect your vision, but early detection can help prevent future vision loss.” says Dr. Andrea Lasby, OD, FAAO, FSLS , AAO President and practicing optometrist.??
Many Albertans are not aware that there is Alberta Health coverage towards optometric services, including annual comprehensive eye exams for school-aged children under 19 and seniors over 65 years of age.?
Alberta has over 900 practicing optometrists serving Albertans across over 120 communities. Despite the availability and importance of their services, regular eye care tends to be overlooked by the average person. The ‘Eyes Need Care Too’ campaign seeks to address this discrepancy by removing perceived barriers to eye healthcare services in Alberta. Through creative and relatable messaging, the video campaign directly addresses parents with young children. Meanwhile, the out-of-home campaign focuses on children and seniors, two demographics with greater eye health needs

We want to show how easy it is to look after your eye health by showing them how much work they put into building healthy habits around other senses by comparison. This is Brandish’s first creative campaign with AAO since merging with the Edmonton-based creative agency RED The Agency . 'Eyes Need Care Too' launched on digital, print, OOH, streaming, and audio platforms in early July 2024.
