BRANDING YOUR COMPANY WITH THE 3 P'S
Branding is hard for startups and small businesses because (if you’re like 99% of small teams) you’re busy focusing on current customers.
However branding is vital to the success of your business in the long run and studies show that companies with a “voice†and a well known brand pay less for acquiring new customers. Given we living in a digital world everyone wants to share something cool, new, and hip with their friends and following.
There is no reaseon why that can not be your brand.
How do you brand your company? Our answer is going through the 3 P’s of branding with your team.
First is your company Purpose. Write FOR, WHO, THAT, and UNLIKE on a white board and fill in the blanks.
To give you a framework here is Boostinsider’s Purpose:
FOR tech forward marketing teams at small to mid-sized companies
WHO are managing your social media promotion and strategy
Boostinsider is an influencer marketing platform
THAT gives your social media marketing team a simple and in-expensive solution to have social influencers promote your brand.
UNLIKE other influencer marketing platforms Boost operates on a pay for performance model.
Second is your company Position. Ask yourself why the world would be a better place because of what you offer.
Boostinsider’s Position:
For Boost the world is a better place when influencers promote products they love and brands see amazing ROI.
Lastly but most importantly for developing your “voice†you need a Personality.
Boostinsider’s Personality:
Imagine you have a graphic designer friend who always wears stylish clothes and wooden framed glasses. She does everything with precision, her actions are deliberate, and she is funny at the same time.
Once you’ve structured your 3 P’s you have a foundation that you can build off of. These will change over time as you mature as a company.
We review our company personality on a monthly basis. This review is usually based on what our customers have been telling us and the responses we get from our amazing community (You).
Many top leaders at companies like Facebook, Wealthfront, and Square have used the 3 P’s to change how people look at their brands. It is vital to scaling a company to give it a look and feel. Luckily, this task is fun when you see how much your company changes based on the market and feedback over time.
