The Brand of Prince

While we celebrate the life of Prince Rogers Nelson, I wanted to get some perspective on how he impacted the Minneapolis brand.  I called on one of our Meet Minneapolis board members for her insights.  Enjoy the responses from Julie Batliner, president of  Spong PR here in Minneapolis.

With all respect, if you don't know what Prince did for the music world and his love for Minneapolis then you know nothing about Prince achievements and Minneapolis. Trying to have Meet Minneapolis capitalized on his name for its "brand" is distasteful, disgraceful and disrespectful on Prince himself, his art, talent and creations Please respect his sanctuary, in God's name.

Thank you Melvin for sharing these insights. While the final facts are not yet known, it is very sad that we may have lost this unique and giving soul to the very problem that our friend who we serve, Sheriff Rich Stanek has been working diligently to address -out of control prescription pharmaceuticals. Our hope now is that as a community we can help his family solidify the resiliency of his personal brand and provide current and future generations with the opportunity to be inspired by his creative gifts within this wonderful state of ours, Minnesota.
