Each November the world's leading meeting, conference and trade show organisers descend on Barcelona for their very own conference and trade show dedicated to the meetings industry. With many of these attendees being seasoned travellers and regular IBTM Barcelona attendees, Barcelona is this year laying on a selection of brand new and rather special hotels - all have opened their doors (pools, bars and restaurants) in the past year and are ready for these uber travel experts to experience well earned evenings of inspiration.

New and exclusive: Members' clubs and adult only hotels
Soho House Barcelona is arguably the city’s biggest hotel opening of late.
Opened in late 2016, Soho House Barcelona is the first Spanish outpost of Nick Jones' rapidly expanding members' clubs and is arguably the city's biggest hotel opening of late. Transforming an 18th century heritage house into a 57-room sleek hideaway, the hotel and club is Catalan cool meets English country house charm with exposed brick walls, local ceramic tiles, mosaic floors, thickly upholstered curtains and wooden antique furniture. It brings a rooftop pool - a signature of the Soho House group - a Cowshed spa, a cinema and five restaurants and bars to the city's vibrant Gothic Quarter.
Down the road, hidden at the end of a tiny alley, The Wittmore also offers a taste of exclusivity with a speakeasy, members' club atmosphere and a no children, no photos rule. There are similarities to nearby Soho House - Bakelite telephones, stately décor, antique touches and striped rooftop sun loungers - but a more club-like feel. The Witty restaurant serves rich, creative dishes and the bar is perfect for both summer and winter with a pretty patio and roaring open fire.
New yet historic: Hotels with a story to tell
The Yurbban Passage Hotel & Spa retains aspects of its industrial past and introduces quirky modern touches.
After condensing the Hotel Condes Barcelona into one of its two buildings on Passeig de Gracia, the Condes Hotels group opened the spectacular Hotel Monument and immediately raised its luxury game. Housed in a neo-Gothic mansion built between 1895 and 1896 by architect Josep Vilaseca, the hotel retains its original fa?ade - considered one of the city's most beautiful - and carved marble staircase but benefits from the introduction of a chic new interior. While you're there be sure to visit Lasarte - the first Barcelona restaurant to be awarded three Michelin stars.
Another hotel that's retained aspects from its past is the brand new Yurbban Passage Hotel & Spa, which has reminders of its former life as a textile factory running throughout. Iron window frames, brick walls and support columns nod to its industrial history while quirky touches like a tabletop shuffleboard and retro photo booth in the reception bring it into the 21st century. An on-site spa, rooftop pool and evening wine tastings further add to the boutique hotel's appeal.
Casa Bonay marries modern touches with its original 1869 features.
Casa Bonay successfully preserves original features of its 19th century home, some of which date back to 1869, and introduces modern touches to create a destination that appeals to locals and tourists alike. Barcelona born Ines Miro-Sans partnered with Brooklyn design firm Studio Tack to create the hotel and the result is an eclectic and hip yet Mediterranean feel, marrying original elements such as the mosaic floors with contemporary Catalan furniture.
New and luxurious: No holds barred
The One Barcelona is the first H10 hotel with a five-star luxury offering.
One of 15 H10 Barcelona hotels, The One Barcelona is the first in the group with a five-star luxury offering. Found on Carrer de Provenca in Eixample, it's near Passeig de Gracia and sister hotel H10 Casa Mimosa, which opened in 2016. Jaime Beriestain interiors include a pleasing blend of copper, stone and glass as well as Jordanian and Serpeggiante marble, oak floors, 18-carat gold taps, Antonio Citterio artworks and furniture customised by Beriestain himself. This is no holds barred luxury at its finest.
Fans of Chilean-born designer Jaime Beriestain should also consider the newly opened Vincci Mae, which transforms a 1940s building into a sophisticated and modern 85-room hotel, and Room Mate Gerard, themed around a fictitious sophisticated architect named Gerard.
Almanac Barcelona is the first of a new luxury hotel brand.
Another first, Almanac Barcelona is the inaugural opening of a new luxury brand that's set to expand with hotels in Vienna, Budapest and Prague. The hotel focuses on four elements - scent, taste, light and touch - in order to offer a complete journey experience. The 91 rooms provide the perfect retreat with gold tones and wooden accents while an exclusive rooftop pool and bar, as well as a luxury spa, continue the tranquillity.
Minimalist and modern: Understated luxury
The newly opened OD Barcelona has top to bottom wooden features and a stylish rooftop terrace.
Decorated with modern furnishings and natural materials, the newly opened OD Barcelona draws in a young, fashionable crowd with top to bottom wood, a tranquil terrace and a rooftop Sky Bar, which plays host to local performers and guest DJs in the summer months. Four smart cars are free for guests to borrow and there's a triangle rooftop plunge pool that's perfect for sightseeing and people watching.
Effortlessly stylish, the Casa Mathilda bed and breakfast also offers understated luxury accommodation with an interior inspired by the post-modern apartments of its Eixample neighbourhood. Nestled among other apartments in an early 20th century building, it brings together original features such as brass doorknobs, stained glass doors and oak floors with vintage furniture and pastel cement tiles.
