Brand-Led Culture Change

Recently we joined the Sustainable Brands community in Minneapolis for their annual Brand-Led Culture Change event. The conference highlights the important role of brands in influencing and empowering people to live their best, most sustainable, joyfully fulfilling lives.?

While corporations continue to navigate the complexities of the anti-ESG backlash , this event showcased a much more hopeful reality. A bright spot in the current business landscape is the way brands are innovating in circular design – creating products, services and experiences that people love, that disrupt categories, and that shift behavior toward a regenerative future for retail.

Branding & Sustainability Strategist Erika Pontes and our Founding Partner, Raphael Bemporad , had the honor of hosting a panel with three brands who are setting new bars for excellence in circularity: REI who’s been reselling used gear for over 6 decades, 塔吉特百货 who’s been ramping up its take-back and upcycling programs with a goal is to have 100 percent of Target’s owned brands circular by design by 2040, and Just Salad whose reusable bowl program avoids nearly 25,000 lbs of single-use packaging waste per year (while rewarding customers with free toppings! ??)

Inspired by these brands and others we’ve supported through our work, we outlined 5 Principles of Designing for Circular Behavior to help brands on the circular journey overcome ingrained habits and the immediacy of convenience to break through to consumers, unlock business growth, and unleash brand love and loyalty.?

Rock on,
