Brand Everything

*Normally I don't post on Saturdays, but I'm trying to stay consistent to the once a week post schedule, so here it is

BRAND EVERYTHING

I went golfing with my buddy Jake Adkins earlier this week. He’s an entrepreneur as well that helps his family business across different categories and marketing. Outside of catching up and brainstorming on business ideas, it was amazing to see the lengths he takes to brand Adkins Family Vineyards. He had his logo on just about everything. The golf cart, his hat, the tees he used , the markers, the boombox on the back of the golf cart, but the best part was the golf balls had his logo as well.?

When I asked Jake, what happens if you lose the ball, he told me to turn the ball around. It had a great call to action, if found return to Adkins Family vineyards for free wine sampling.?What a call to action!! Imagine someone found a ball on the course and realizes it’s not theirs only to find out that you can get a free wine tasting experience. From Jake’s standpoint, not only is it great branding, name recognition, but you also create a memory, call to action , and easy entry point of engagement.?

For example, say someone ends up returning the ball in exchange for the free wine, you can immediately use golf as the introduction. What course did you play? How often do you play? When did you get into golf? Where are you driving from? How did you shoot, etc??

Brand everything but when doing that create an experience and call to action! As an athlete or individual, you are watched at all times, what can you do to brand yourself in more ways than just what you do on the field or post on social?

TTS: Branding

Tool: Social Media [ any platform] , you have to be visible to be viable. Use your social media to enhance your profile and control your narrative. Even if you don’t like posting , there are ways to showcase your brand

Tip: Your Brand is a reflection of what you think of yourself and what others think about you. Create a Venn diagram dissecting the two and then combine both sides into what your personal brand actually is in the middle sphere

Strategy: A Table has four legs(pillars), when you think of your personal?brand , think of the four pillars you want to create a firm table with and do things that can fit on that brand(table)

Lessons From Leaders [ changed from Tips from teacher ]?

Jonathan Orr ?is a former professional athlete that is a speaker who helps with athlete + career transition. I had the fortunate pleasure of finally meeting him in person at a conference this time last year where he was the keynote speaker. Here are some lessons that I learned from him as it pertains to transition?

  1. Remove The Label?- an athlete is what you do, it’s only one label of who you are. Create a word cloud of all the labels you can associate to you as a person to understand who you are?
  2. Self Exploration - find passions outside of your sport to know yourself. The better you know yourself , your motivations, your triggers, the better you can perform in your day to day activities
  3. Don't Cut Corners- to build the foundation and structure you want in what ever next chapter you pursue, there are no shortcuts. You might have to start back at the entry level position or even intern but if you cut corners, your structure will not be sustainable when you try to build and grow bigger.
