BRAND > DEI

A recent article has referenced legal and political pressures that companies are facing amid the evolving landscape of DEI.

Call "it" what you want.

People speak different languages all the time, even when they are referring to the same person, place, or thing.????????? ??????????'?? ???????????? ?????????? ?????????? ?????? ???? ?????? ???????? ???? ???????????????? ???? ???????????????? ????????????????.

As long as our commitment to ?????? ?????????????? of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) remains true in all that we do, then we'll have diverse representation, inclusive practices, and equitable opportunities incorporated within our organizational and institutional strategies.

The moment that doesn’t become the case is when we should take ?????????? ???????????????????????????? for unethical practices if we notice them happening.

Brand Accountability

Squibble defines it perfectly.

At its core, brand accountability can be seen as a brand’s unwavering dedication to assuming responsibility for its decisions, deeds, and subsequent ramifications.

In a personal or professional instance, getting rid of the term "DEI" doesn’t make the actions we take any less important; it's actually ?? ???????? ???? ?????? ?????????? ????????????????????????????.

Instead of deciding what to call "DEI" or what to do with "it", ask yourself:

  • ???? ?????? ???????? ???????? ?????????? ???? ???????? ?? ???????????
  • ???? ?????? ???????? ???????? ?????????? ???? ???? ???????????????????????
  • ???? ?????? ???????? ???????? ?????????? ???? ???????? ?????? ???????????

If you said ?????? to any or all of these questions, then you should take brand accountability by having diverse and ethical stakeholders and shareholders operating with the best intentions to see impactful results that help with the growth and prosperity of everyone involved.

I’ll use a holistic example from a human resources and talent management lens.

  1. If a workplace is not diverse from a racial, ethnic, gender, and accessible standpoint, ?????????? ???????????? ???? ?????????? ????????????????????????????.
  2. If someone is not being offered the same resources as others, even when they came in with differing abilities, ?????????? ???????????? ???? ?????????? ????????????????????????????.
  3. If there are people that are being excluded from hiring processes or promotions, ?????????? ???????????? ???? ?????????? ????????????????????????????. ???????? ?????????? ???? ???? ?????????? ????????????????????????????... people with good intentions disengage or leave, write negative reviews, and even the most reputable brands garner a poor reputation.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion should all be characteristics within your story but they don't have to "be the story". In addition, your brand should naturally communicate the accessibilities. Your brand becomes sustainable in terms of its reputation and employee morale, leading to a more positive environment. To make money, your brand evolves through conscious capitalism.

National DEI Dialogue

In terms of the national DEI dialogue, I think there's been progress from where our society was historically. Because now more than ever, people seem to generally agree on what’s right, wrong, or debatable.

???????? ???????????? ???????? ??????-???????????????????? ???????????? ????????????????????????. They don’t typically care about training, considering other options, or changing how things are. Whereas, others may not realize the inequalities they create but when they do, they take brand accountability.
