Brain Training

Brain Training

"... all training is brain training, even if it doesn't specifically target the brain."

This extraordinary observation comes from Alex Hutchinson's excellent book: "Endure" (P. 214). Hutchinson talks about how training not only expands the capabilities of the body, but also adjusts the brain's settings and recalibrates its horizons.

Even though Hutchinson's examples are often of extreme endurance activities, the same concept applies to kids sports.?

Almost every coaching-related activity that we do with kids has the potential to expand a child's knowledge, confidence, competence, character, or creativity and therefore adjust the brain's parameters. It is quite a responsibility.

All training is brain training.
