Brain Overdrive

I had a classic case of brain overdrive this morning that was leading me nowhere fast.
Over the past three months I have gained a greater understanding of "revved up" thinking by taking part in an incredible programme called the Inspired Living programme. I supplemented this incredible course by reading "The little book of big change" by Amy Johnson PHD.
Amy Johnson uses the example of shaking up a snow globe for revved up thinking. Once shaken the snow within the globe goes everywhere making it near impossible to see through it, or anything within the globe.
Once the snow globe has stopped being shaken and put down, the snow within the globe begins to settle at the bottom of the it. The glass becomes clear and you are able see through and within the globe.
This example has been a great help to me. When I recognise my brain is "revved" up or in overdrive. I now, simply stop.
My brain and thoughts begin to settle, just like the snow within the globe. I begin to find after a period of time, my intuition come through to guide me, allowing the next move to appear.
What is your experience of brain overdrive or "revved up" thinking, and how do you cope?
