The Brain Boosting Trick Every Presenter Needs To Know

The Brain Boosting Trick Every Presenter Needs To Know

Ever wondered why some messages stick while others fade into oblivion?

Our brains are brilliant processing machines, but they're also quite specific in how they handle information. Visual information is processed on one side, while verbal information is processed on the other.

But when these two processes align and work in harmony (it’s called dual-coding theory if you want to take a deep dive into it), something pretty cool happens – recall and learning doubles, or even triples.

It was John Sweller, a trailblazer in the field of cognitive psychology, who demonstrated that when visual and verbal processes synchronise, our capacity to absorb and retain information experiences a substantial boost. It's akin to firing up our brain's learning engine to turbo mode.

This is why it’s vital your visuals complement what you are saying.

Because when the two contradict each other, it’s like watching a game of football while listening to cricket commentary – the two just don't jive. The brain wrestles with the mismatch and you end up learning nothing.

So if you want your audience to connect with your message, mastering this simple trick could make all the difference.

OK so how does this work in your particular case, as you have a mans voice but do not look like one? Doesn't this cause constant conflicts in the brain of the consumer (listenever/viewer) ?
