The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Annual Meeting never fails to impress and this year is being held in the charismatic city of New Orleans. With the effects of hurricane Katrina in 2005 still being felt (as the city continues to recover), it is great that an event such as this delivers a much-needed financial boost.
AAOS attracts not only the US contingent, but the wider orthopaedic community from across the world and is a great opportunity to review all of the latest product developments in both the implant and bracing industries. The meeting brings more than 12,000 orthopaedic surgeons and over 30,000 attendees together in total.
Due to its size, it takes the full three days to truly explore the exhibition and ensure nothing gets missed. As always for me, it provides the best chance each year to not only search for the next generation of unique orthopaedic braces, but also catch up with industry colleagues and manufacturing partners. Time well spent.
