Building Connections in Water Tech

Alexa & Liz holding up the WEFTEC sign.

Last month, Team BPR had the opportunity to attend WEFTEC, one of the most prominent wastewater conferences in the U.S., held in vibrant New Orleans. This event is a major platform for industry leaders, innovators, and professionals to come together and discuss the latest advancements in water technology. For BPR, it was a moment to reflect on how our impact has grown within the water tech sector, giving us a chance to form valuable connections and partnerships that support our future and help us enhance the communities and clients we serve. We attended several networking events, including Imagine H2O ’s annual event for cohort members and partners.

Highlight: BPR’s First Networking Event

One of the most exciting moments of WEFTEC24 was hosting a happy hour that brought together a wonderful mix of our clients, wastewater experts, and water industry champions. Partnering with Sloane Staffing and The Water Entrepreneur Podcast , this event was a celebration of collaboration and growth. The evening was filled with conversations about new projects, shared insights on wastewater challenges, and the fostering of relationships that will continue to drive collaboration across the industry. It was inspiring to see so many like-minded individuals connecting and engaging with a shared goal of creating a more sustainable future.

And we had a blast!!

Fun in NOLA

Of course, the experience wouldn't be complete without a bit of New Orleans magic. In between sessions and meetings, our team took some time to experience the local culture. From sampling classic Cajun and Creole dishes to enjoying live jazz and even venturing into a karaoke club, it was a perfect blend of work and play. These moments of fun helped us bond with new contacts and recharge for the work ahead.

No plastic water bottles for Team BPR! A plane-eye view of the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in Louisiana. It’s the longest bridge in the U.S. and the world’s longest continuous bridge over water. Everyone can do their part to maintain the integrity of infrastructure whether at home or in your travels.

The Importance of Innovation in Water

WEFTEC underscored the pressing need for innovation in water and infrastructure management, not just in theory, but in actionable terms. With the aftermath of Hurricane Helene continuing to strain communities, Milton was threatening landfall during the conference, prompting many to cut their trip short.

With intensifying storms and other climate change challenges like severe drought, finding sustainable, effective solutions is more important than ever. BPR is dedicated to staying at the forefront of these changes, working with partners who share our vision of a resilient, water-secure world. The knowledge and inspiration we gained at WEFTEC will fuel our efforts to drive impactful solutions for our clients and communities.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at WEFTEC, and to all those who make this journey in environmental sustainability so meaningful. We’re looking forward to what’s next as we continue to build a future where innovation and sustainability are at the heart of water management.
