How Important the Phone is?
All I thought before that the phone was exclusively made for games, especially for Snake and Space Impact. Nokia 3310 — the first phone I held with my own little, curious hands, and my body was violently trembling in excitement to play its games.
My mother spurned the thought of the phone as only made for games by showing me repeatedly how to compose a message and to make a phone call, instilling in my docile mind that its primary use is for communication.
Flipped open its box's cover the image below appeared:
CONNECTION — that's what I failed to understand at that point in time. Growing up, all I thought important in life was to straightly finish formal education then land myself on a good-paying job to get the worldly luxuries that I want.
I went on with my life bearing only the frail knowledge of the very word: how it should be pronounced, as composed of 10 letters, but without its substantive meaning.
Today, phones are not just simply design for texting, calling, and playing games. The piece of craft has, if not revolutionized, evolved through the fast-moving years.
Most of the latest phones are compacted with advantageous features to meet daily ends. Say, people usually speak with other people to acquire a detailed direction to a specific location. Now, needless of the effort to come to other people and bother their lives, phones are engaged with map applications that exhibit the details of the ways, minutes of travel, and even the national roads' real-time traffic condition.
Apart from that distinct feature, phones are now personal mini-computers: we can easily access, compose, and send emails; we can capture daily sceneries with their built-in cameras; we can also pay bills electronically because of the payment wallet system; we can make documents without facing large screens of desktop computers. And the features kept rolling on since human needs are also increasing or expanding.
In the near future, phones will incorporate most, if not all, features propitious for meeting human ends without much hassle. But first, technologies will require for the movement of time to dictate or present the changes that chiefly procure a potential market, necessity, or a commodity.
How Important the Phone is?
Whatever the new features added and combined in the latest phones, the essential function that we surely cannot strip away is the connection, that is, human connection.
The phone today, whatever advantages it brings, is nothing but an important, powerful tool for human connection.
