BPM+ Health : leaning into 2022

BPM+ Health : leaning into 2022

Greetings fellow BPM+ Health community members.

As the tumultuous 2021 tucks into history's pages, I wanted to drop a note of thanks to each one of you for your efforts in helping us reach our shared, common goals.? Agile, safe, learning health systems have greatly benefited from our communities efforts to accelerate their vision into a collective market force. As we pivot towards 2022, I want to thank you in advance for your continued efforts, moxie and brilliance as we teach and share the benefits BPM+ language to the global health IT ecosystem.? In 2021 the healthIT interoperability world began to pay attention to the power of open standards data, knowledge and process automations to knock down boundaries preventing quality, patient centric care.? In 2022, our community is primed to have a major impact on the rapidly emerging health IT standards marketplace.

In 2021, despite surviving both 2nd and 3rd Covids, our community continued to grow and produce industry guiding thought leadership in the form of guides, state of the art demonstrations, webinars and white papers. Here are a few highlights from the year worth mentioning.??

  • Nominated and elected our first steering committee filled with industry luminaries.
  • Maintained seven active workgroups who continually produce high quality content intended to help accelerate learning health systems.
  • Delivered a cross community use case vignette used for state of the art demonstrations?
  • Completed two? virtual conferences.
  • Commitment made with NCQA to help evolve into the digital quality measures age
  • Published the Readiness and Maturity Model (RAMM) guide?

In 2022, we plan to

  • Establish the Steering Committee as the leading strategic body for our community
  • Vote on and publish the BPM+ Health change management Playbook.
  • Bring forward two, cross community use case vignettes for state of the art demonstrations.
  • Complete two face to face conferences (covid willing)
  • Strengthen our partnership with NCQA and other quality organizations
  • Continue to intelligently grow our community to include prominent healthcare Payers.
  • Use the BPM+ Health, end to end process mapping language to to add value to existing, FHIR data implementation guide (IG) efforts.

As executive director, I want to lay out a few, achievable goals for 2022:

  • Grow our community by recruiting two, strategic Premier Sponsors.
  • Have BPM+ Health requirements written into at least one government or commercial sector, technology procurement.
  • Deliver at least 2 interoperability, state of the art demonstrations?
  • Implement BPM+ Health using FHIR endpoints in at least one? production system.

As community members, here are a few things you can focus on to help us achieve our collective goals:

  • Contribute BPM+ Health process flows to active interoperability projects (e.g. FHIR implementation guides).
  • Bring your voice, energy and ideas forward into BPMP+ Health workgroups.
  • Promote the complementary nature of BPM+ Health standards to FHIR, CQL and other standards to your colleagues.

It takes a committed group of experts to effect and sustain positive change. As Patients, Providers, Payers and Researchers, the 17 year knowledge translation cycle in healthcare is no longer acceptable and stands as barrier to quality, efficient healthcare for everyone. The dam is beginning to break? and learning health systems everywhere thank you.

Onward (but please get a bit of rest first) ...

Shane
