BPES Conference Insights & Networking

BPES marked the end of 2023 with significant presence at key biotech conferences, fostering innovation and partnerships.

At London's Cell2023 (7-8 November), we joined global innovators in cell and gene therapy, supported by SYNENTEC. Our booth buzzed with discussions on future trends and concluded with insights into new techniques and manufacturing processes.

The ELRIG UK conference in Stevenage (21-22 November) highlighted Ellen Harrington, PhD's insights on SYNENTEC GmbH’s technology. We showcased automated cell imaging systems, Thomson Instrument Company’s shake flasks, and Green Elephant Biotech’s #CellScrew.

The Bioprocess UK Conference in Brighton (28-30 November) celebrated its 20th anniversary with a focus on bioprocessing's future. The event featured keynotes and interactive sessions, offering a glimpse into the next era of biotechnology.

These events emphasised BPES's commitment to staying abreast of evolving biotech trends, highlighting our role in shaping the industry's future.

BPES also had a dynamic presence at several other notable biotech events, gathering valuable insights and forging connections in the industry. BioProNET2's 10th Annual Symposium, GSK, Stevenage: Representatives Sean Doran, Will Thompson, and Tom Burdick attended, focusing on advances in biological medicines and networking with industry leaders.


Scale Space: Lab Supplier Fair, White City and Nottingham: Emma Craughan and Will Thompson represented BPES at this hub for scaleups, emphasising innovation and community in the biotech sector.

ELRIG: Drug Discovery 2023, ACC Liverpool Exhibition Centre: Liam Flanagan-Little and Matthew Wright delved into new trends in drug discovery, with a focus on robotics, automation, and sustainability.

Personal Stories & Employee Spotlight


Ellen's journey in science, ignited by her biologist father, led her from academic research to a fulfilling career in scientific sales. Her PhD in the USA was a turning point, particularly influenced by a student-led event that opened her eyes to the potential of scientific sales.

Transitioning to sales in the UK involved building a new professional network and adapting her skills. At BPES, Ellen thrives as a Technical Sales Specialist, finding passion in genuine customer interactions and staying informed through platforms like LinkedIn.

Matthew’s path to biotechnology was unconventional. Post-university travels and a stint in Covid testing evolved into a passion for scientific sales, utilising his Chemistry degree. Joining BPES as a Technical Sales Specialist, he enjoys a job filled with variety, from customer interactions to solving industry challenges. Matt's expertise particularly shines in offering solutions like Solaris Biotech's automated bioreactors for process optimisation in the cell agriculture industry.

He values BPES's genuine approach and commitment to solving customer problems, embodying the company's ethos of building lasting relationships and providing expert solutions.
