BPC 11 Advantages

BPC 11 Advantages

Part four of a five part series.

The year 2020 is right around the corner and don't you want to hit that decade already running and ahead of your competitors? By making the move to BW/4HANA and BPC 11 now, you will be at the front of the line! This article will focus on key advantages of BPC 11 over earlier versions.

Reduced data replication via HANA and HANA Views and Real-Time capabilities. This has always been a challenge in the past since most often the data existed in your ERP or source system database, then was extracted (copied and probably modified) to the BW database and then copied and modified into the BPC namespace in BW.

Calculations are pushed down to HANA for improved performance. So now both formula calculations and FOX calculations are pushed to HANA and do not run in the BW layer.

Both Standard and embedded models are supported in BPC 11. Analysis for Office and the EPM Add-in are now a single add-in. Now only a common installation with a single license is needed. The Analysis tab can only be used with BPC embedded models, the EPM tab can be used with both, standard or embedded models. Evdre is not supported in BPC 11.

A new home page for BPC 11 is introduced. The new home page can be personalized, resized and reordered. Tiles for charts can be anchored to the page and favorites can be added based on user priorities. The new front end utilizes UI5, hamburger and bread crumb functionalities to simplify and enhance the user experience.

Other important factors include being able to utilize Big Data, Hadoop and also better integration with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC). So now it is easier to synch data back and forth between SAC and BPC. Additionally, this allows a BPC 11 & BW/4HANA owner to use the SAC web client for planning and analysis with their BPC data.

No further enhancements will be made to BW-BPS, BW-IP or BCS.

The next article will summarize the BW/4HANA and BPC 11 direction and my thoughts for adoption.

Hi Rob. It's been a while since your post but just found it. We currently have a BPC 10.1 Standard planning solution on BW7.4 on HANA and currently considering to upgrade/migrate to BPC 11 on BW4/HANA. I would like to know if there is any major upgrade in performance for: - Script Logic Execution - Custom BAdIs calculations - EPM input schedules / reports (query time and dynamic format sheet) Due to our solution being on Standard versión, we are researching the benefits that could be achieved by just migrating to 11 Standard, without the additional effort that reimplementing on Embedded would require. Thanks! Regards, Joaquín.
