Bowling Maps and PitchScan?
We have seen PitchScan really come into it's own over Summer. Going from a Coin Toss segment to an in play piece to really show 'why' balls tend to move off the Pitch.
With the great help from the team at Virtual Eye this Summer who show the 'where' the ball lands on the pitch. PitchScan provides the 'why' and 'how' the ball moves off the pitch.
A good example was Peter Handscomb luckily not being stumped at the SCG with a ball from Yasir Shah spinning away nicely from the bat. Normally the below view would be as good as it gets.
The team at Nine have been extremely supportive and eager to combine technologies and bring the viewers new views. As such, using the Virtual Eye technology combined with PitchScan you can easily see the rough patch (drier part of the pitch) that enabled Shah to really grip and spin and easily beat Handscombs bat.
As always comments and feedback welcome!
