The Bovine: Rocky View Schools' on-farm learning initiative
Alberta Beef Producers
Strengthening the sustainability and competitiveness of the beef industry for the benefit of cattl producers in Alberta.
This month, we're featuring a school located on 15 acres of land, just three minutes north of Airdrie, Alberta.
The Farm School fulfills all core courses for grades 9-11, while also exploring agricultural practices and approaches. Students operate small businesses, and according to The Farm's website, "complete farm chores, learning to manage, market and operate agri-business ventures and engage in research and projects in an environment that will foster the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship."
Listen to The Bovine: Rocky View Schools' on-farm learning initiative, featuring guest host Karin Schmid (also Beef Production and Extension Lead, Alberta Beef Producers) as she tours The Farm with teacher Matt Chomistek and grade 10 students enrolled in the program.
You can find out more about The Farm online, and on Twitter and Instagram.
