BOUNDS DIRECTORS ARE PUTTING ON A SHOW FOR YOU ALL
One of the first shows to welcome audiences will be the aptly named Life 2.0. The show takes place at The Deco Theatre in Northampton on Friday 25th June. It’s an all-star variety starring X-Factor and Eurovision star Andy Abraham, along with comedian Kev Orkian, ventriloquist Steve Hewlett and top impressionist John Clegg.
As well as the star names the concert will showcase artists who, during lockdown, recorded an album of music to creatively express their feeling and emotions surrounding the pandemic. The album, also titled Life 2.0 was produced to raise awareness of the hidden consequence of the pandemic – mental health. It was put together by Milton Keynes based music producer, David Wright under his label Melodology, who said: “The negative impact on people’s mental health during this pandemic has been a key issue that has affected so many people, including those who maybe haven’t experienced poor mental health before. Raising money and awareness to support everyone with their mental health is something I feel really passionate about, and this album and stage show hopefully goes some way towards achieving this.”
Tickets for the Life 2.0 variety show are on sale now from The Deco, with profits going directly to mental health charity, Mind.
Vicky Urquhart, Community and Events Fundraising Manager, said:
“We are really grateful to the organisers for making this album and show happen, and to those who are giving up their time to perform.
“The pandemic continues to have a huge impact on our mental health, especially for those of us with existing mental health problems. We know from our coronavirus survey that over half of adults and two thirds of young people said their mental health has worsened since the outbreak of the pandemic. Now that measures are starting to lift, many of us are once again re-adjusting to changes, which can present further challenges to our mental health.
Every donation that Mind receives helps us to provide information and support services, such as our Mind Infoline and legal line, so that we can be there for as many people who need us as possible.”
David Wright concludes: "The album has been a labour of love and the show is going to be the crowning glory for all the artists involved, especially as the entire album was created in lockdown with nobody having met before, so performing live, this will be quite an emotional event for all concerned. If we can raise money for Mind and put a big smile on the faces of hundreds of people that have not been to the theatre for over a year, we'll have done our job and more."
