It was a pure synchronicity moment when Prof David Crawford called with news that he couldn't go to the USA and receive in person his Fellowship to The Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers (SMPTE), and all because of a recent educational visit and talk in Iran.
Magically on this day our Rave PlayLa.bZ partners PortalCo arrived with the new Kinect Three for us to play with and continue the award winning DIY mixed reality tinkering we have become known for with Ravensbourne University London.
Cooked up and made in 24 hours by our born at Ravensbourne team, including an access all areas making of video mixed by AI - the SMPTE 2019 Fellows we're announced in Hollywood last week at the Honors & Awards Gala by "The Wizard of Woz".
David Crawford a Professor at the University of Essex at Colchester, lecturing in ‘Transmission Systems’ and ‘Intellectual Property’, and with research interests in high capacity networks and broadcasting for ‘beyond HD’ multimedia. He has worked for over 40 years in the telecoms & broadcast industries and academia, and has led both ETSI Standardisation and DVB Technical Work Groups. David is a Member of the Royal Television Society, Fellow and Council Board Member of the IET, Editor of the EBU Tech Review, Director of a small French start-up, and Executive Producer for the industry’s annual ‘IBC’ Conference in Amsterdam.
