In recent years, there has been a lot of talk around ChatGPT. We decided?to delve a bit?deeper. With the rise of AI-powered chatbots, businesses have been able to streamline their customer support processes, increase efficiency, and improve customer experience. We also got some input from Jad Hindy of Expo City Dubai, Ashish Panjabi of Jacky’s and Priya Nair of Zwag to weigh in on what they thought and how they’re using (or not) it. Are you using it?

Talking about deep delve, while a lot has been said and written about corporate tax, businesses are still trying to wrap their heads around the idea of corporate tax because it is unprecedented in the UAE. We presented a?round-up of the top FAQsand primary considerations you need to bear in mind. Tyne Hugo, Senior Associate at BSA Ahmad Bin Hezeem & Associates, pointed out, "The biggest ramification for businesses, other than the 9 per cent tax itself, will be compliance. Businesses need to hit the ground running, and where it has been common to keep financial books casually, this will no longer be an advisable option to manage a business." We hope you are ready.?

Moving on to more salubrious news, we had two interesting launch announcements this past week.

SpotQuest launched a?new location intelligence platform for hotels and restaurants?which promises to be a game changer for the industry. The start-up’s new tool provides detailed and actionable insights in a fraction of the time it currently takes travel professionals to gather the data. The new platform automates location assessments delivering detailed intelligence for hotel chains and restauranteurs.

And in the retail sector, Zbooni has expanded its connected commerce offerings with the launch of?cShop Market for UAEbusinesses. The new online marketplace is its first chat-to-shop marketplace that brings businesses and customers together in a live, interactive shopping forum, showcasing highly rated local brands. For the initial launch phase, Zbooni has onboarded 50 local companies across a variety of categories from its community of 5000 merchants.

One of the more interesting announcements this past week is online legal platform, Clara, releasing (their previously clients only)?CAP table calculator?for every fundraising startup to use in determining the value of a company, in raising capital, and in making strategic decisions. As one startup put it, “understanding of your cap table and its evolution through rounds is critical as a start-up founder”.
