Gaithersburg, Maryland?– Gaithersburg-based OfficePro, Inc. is giving youth and young adults an opportunity that could have big payoffs for the youth as well as some local businesses.?Dubbed “Bot-A-Thon,” OfficePro, Inc. is giving youth and young adults an opportunity to put their technology skills to the test and create “chatbots” for real companies.?
The Bot-A-Thon is open to youth and young adults in Anne Arundel County, MD, between the ages of 18-24, and who are residents of Anne Arundel County.?The Bot-a-Thon started in June and goes through August 12.
During the Bot-a-Thon, students are creating both practice chatbots, as well as real-life chatbots for real companies. The goal is that the companies will like their chatbot and ultimately hire these students to be their “bot administrators.” If a business hires someone from the training, Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation has support of up to $10,000 for bringing on the trainee.
In addition to potential job opportunities, the students will receive four Microsoft certifications, including
“This is a way for us to work with the next generation of tech innovators and leaders,” said OfficePro President, Aaron Udler. “This generation has grown up with technology and this is an opportunity for us to equip youth who might have the skills but not necessarily the resources or access to the latest software and help them have access to the same technology as their peers.”?
