Boston and New England
The gateway to wonderful New England is the enchanting city of Boston. A city with a rich heritage, but with a modern element, it offers a myriad of opportunities to explore and experience for those who visit. The key historical sites are located in the downtown area, all linked by the 2.5 mile Freedom Trail, where the churches, museums and burial grounds tell the fascinating story of America’s Revolution & Civil War. Boston is home to world class shopping and dining, together with almost 30 Farmers Markets where you can sample local, artisan products. The city is home to famous sporting institutions such as The Boston Red Sox baseball team, The Boston Bruins Ice Hockey team, The Boston Celtics Basketball team and The New England Patriots American Football team, it is a city with sport at its heart. There are numerous theatres and concert venues, where you can watch classical music, ballet, opera, modern bands, comedy, satire and broadway shows. Have a stroll around the lively waterfront area or take a cruise the historic harbour, there really is something for everyone I’m this beautiful city.
New England consists of six states, which offer visitors just about every experience you could want to create your perfect holiday. New England is world famous for the incredible array of colours that the changing of the season creates in the foliage of the tree canopies and the fauna & flora in general - having been lucky enough to see ‘The Fall’ in this part of the world, I promise you it is truly spectacular, it is a photographer dream! However, New England has so much more to offer, so let us take a quick tour through the different parts….
Cape Cod is simply beautiful and an area you must visit. There are stunning sandy beaches, spectacular coastal sightseeing and picture perfect villages, such as Hyannis, from where you can take a ferry to the beautiful islands of Nantucket and world renowned Martha’s Vineyard, summer home to the rich and famous, with strikingly beautiful houses and equally eye watering real estate prices!
New Hampshire is home to dense forests, crystal clear lakes and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Here you will discover the great outdoors in its true majesty. Charming villages abound with their white steepled churches, warm welcome and myriad of trails and hikes, both on foot, bike or vehicle.
Connecticut is home to many New York commuters, due to its close proximity to the great city. This creates a special blend of trendy, cool, modern life, interspersed with rustic landscapes and historical sites. Do not be fooled into thinking this is anything but one of America’s wealthiest cities, with a highly skilled workforce in both the service and manufacturing sectors creating a truly vibrant city.
Maine is famous for its massive forests which cover 90% of the area, the 3500km’s of rugged coastline, with jagged headlands, picturesque working fishing villages full of character and numerous secret coves. It is also world renowned for its seafood, especially Lobster, which is reputed to be the finest in the world.
Vermont is in the eyes of many, simply picture perfect. The Green Mountains are ideal for skiing in the winter and exploring in the summer. The numerous country inns offer the warmest of welcomes and some excellent local cuisine.
Rhode Island is renowned for its ocean lifestyle. Home to simple sailing yachts and ocean going mega yachts, you can either set sail yourself, or sit back and relax in Newport, one of the most beautiful places you will ever see. With over 400 miles of New England coastline, beaches galore, mouth-watering seafood, as fresh as you will get anywhere on earth and local food and beverage producers, you will never be short of something to see or do during your stay on Rhode Island.
New England is a destination in its own right, a place that should be explored at a leisurely pace in order to really get the most out of your experience. My recommendation would always be a fly drive, where we can help you plan your route, but for non-drivers, there are some excellent coach tours operated by quality companies. One thing that you must take into account, is that if you hope to visit during ‘The Fall’ period, then early booking is essential, as it is by far the most popular time to visit and accommodation in the best places sells out many many months in advance.
I like this one, as it is a great place for a road trip.

3 年After growing up on the novels of John Irving, I have read so many evocative descriptions of New England that I feel like I already know it. I desperately want to go there, especially during the autumn.
