Boss Man!

A decade ago, I was a far different leader - hasty, uncultivated, and emotional in my decisions. Over the years I have come to understand that time is an invaluable teacher. The learning process can be trying and overwhelming, but it is only through self-reflection that we are able to grow into better leaders.

I used to think if I had enough books on my shelf it would prove my authority as a learned leader - yet they were collecting more dust than insight!

It's not possible to feign good management; everyone on the team will recognize lack of responsibility besides yourself. Is this due to how we were led by our forerunners? Ultimately, it comes down to those decisions - or lack thereof - which help define our leadership abilities.

At some point you'll receive critique that hits you square in the face; do you choose to adjust and evolve your approach or carry on like before? As a leader, the answer ultimately rests with you!

Leadership begins with you. It's not something that can be awarded or given - it takes hard work and experience to truly step into the role of a leader. And while it may take years of practice, growth, and mistakes to get there, you don't need to wait for perfect conditions before taking that first step.

Command-and-control style leadership doesn't usually have the desired outcome in a multicultural, multigenerational workplace, and often falls short when trying to inspire people towards greatness. True leadership is about recognizing potential in others and inspiring them to reach their full brilliance.

Encourage collaboration rather than conformity, instill humility instead of hubris, and ensure knowledge always trumps ignorance - this is what successful leaders do best! Focus on creating leaders rather than followers: Leading by example will create stronger connections between your team members and drive greater success as everyone works together towards common goals.

The core message here is to recognize where managing stops and leading begins. In doing so, you will be able to see potential more clearly, show deeper compassion, improve group ideations, and foster an environment of collaboration by unlocking each person's unique genius.

Embrace the grind. Enjoy the journey. Keep listening
