Borrowed Genius-Mother's Day Edition- Part 2 (reader quotes)

I am by no means the only person to "Borrow Genius" from their mother, so for this Mother's Day, you can borrow some genius from the mothers of your fellow newsletter readers in the Borrowed Genius- Mother's Day Edition Part 2 (you can read Part 1 here ).

"One link of chain can’t rattle by itself” - it is the best pearl of wisdom I ever received in my life. - Diane Davis (PSB accounting)

My mom was a hairdresser and used me as her practice wig all throughout junior high and high school. The best lesson that she ever taught me was to learn how to deal with change.- Gina Schaefer

"Never give up!"- AB Bourke

“If you want something done, ask the busiest person you know!” - Nicole Davis

"Go the extra mile. Anyone can go half way"- Mary Horsager (Via David Horsager )

"As an only child, having loyal friends was (and still is) very important in my mom's life. Growing up, she professed to her children to Pick and Choose your friends. Now in my adult life, this seems redundant so I looked up the difference: Pick and Choose: to carefully select or choose the best, most desirable, or appropriate option from among a number of options; to be choosy when making a decision about alternatives.

Takeaway: Maybe you don't need to pick a lot of friends, but the ones you choose will be your very best."- Debbie Chartoff

My mom passed a year ago January 2 at 85yrs. She taught Sunday School and always hosted the High School Senior breakfast. Her whole life was about serving others as she did daily as a cosmetologist or as she would say a “beauty operator”. Funnily enough her last words were, “Make sure they do my hair right”. She wanted to look good when she met Jesus! I pray that I may be a servant to everyone I meet and bless them as my mom and our Lord is doing for eternity!- Jason Young

When she retired, my mom was the Chief of Contracts for the US Arms Control and Disarmament Agency (now part of the State Department). She was usually the only woman in the room and at the table, stood barely 5’ tall and was the youngest of 5 who grew up in the 1920s/30s. Her favorites: “Whatever you do, do it 100%; “Tomorrow will be a better day”; “You can, you will, now go!”- Lani Glancy

"That forgiving yourself took some humility. And If you can't forgive yourself, it's very difficult to forgive other people. And if you don't forgive other people you'll go around for the rest of your life with a bad look on your face!"- Garrison Wynn

If you don’t try, you’ll never know.- Tina Mace

My mum always advised me to get moving and work hard.?Nothing happens until you get started. - Chester Elton

"I used to give more time, attention, energy, effort, and focus to basketball than I did to my academics... so my mom said, "Excellence is not a switch to turn on and off. You should strive to be excellent - and give your best - in EVERYTHING you do." This advice is on par with one of my foundational mantras today: "How you do anything is how you do everything.""- Alan Stein, Jr.

I learned from my mom that kind, heartfelt connection is the way to go, and that our spiritual disciplines will get us through the toughest times. To quote the late Dr Scheuller: “Tough times never last but tough people do!” - Adam Kreek

My mom was a great listener and always made the other person feel valuable. - Murray Johns

One thing I learned from my mother as we went through similar circumstances as you was to not worry! But in an unusual way! She was an constant worrier and it took me Year’s and lots of practice with lots of different strategies to break that habit! It helped with my speaking!- Amanda Gore

From 2002-2007, I wrote a weekly comic strip that appeared in about 40 small publications in the US, Canada, and Israel. If this is a newsletter, might as well have a comic each week, too!

OK, so Kick's wife Kricket is doing the 'use-spit-to-get-your-hair-to-stop-sticking-up' thing here, not his mom, but did your mom ever do that to you?
