Dear readers

What an incredible spirit there was during September! Not only did we celebrate the 25-year jubilee of Chondro-Gide?, but also welcomed a new colleague who supports our customers in eastern Germany. The month’s highlight was the AGA congress in Zurich – specialists focusing on arthroscopy and joint preservation gathered in the birthplace of Geistlich, what could be more inspiring for us to keep on moving forward?

Your Geistlich family

25 Years – We’ve Got You Covered!

In 1999, Chondro-Gide? made its debut as a cover in Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation (ACI), and since then, it has been a game-changer in the world of cartilage regeneration. From AMIC? to AMIC?+ and AMMR?, Chondro-Gide? has proven itself with the highest amount of evidence as the go-to membrane for orthopedic surgeons.

To celebrate this jubilee, we have designed a special rain poncho that embodies the very essence of Chondro-Gide?:

Protection: Just as Chondro-Gide? protects cells from dislocation and shear forces in the joint, our rain poncho keeps you dry and cozy during unexpected downpours.

Coverage: Whether you are at a congress, an event, or just out and about, the rain poncho has you covered – literally!

Biodegradable: Chondro-Gide? and the rain poncho, both are biodegradable. For sure, the rain poncho does not disappear with the first raindrops, but it gives you the security to stay dry for the time that you need and will resorb over time.

The rain ponchos will be available at our upcoming congresses and events. Make sure to grab one and join us in celebrating 25 years of innovation and success with Chondro-Gide?.

Here’s to many more years of breakthroughs and advancements in cartilage regeneration. Thank you for being part of this incredible journey!

Once Upon a Time in Zurich

The German-speaking Society for Arthroscopy and Joint-Surgery ( AGA Arthroskopie ) is the largest professional society for arthroscopy in Europe, with over 5,200 members from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and other countries.

As the vibrant city of Zurich was hosting the 41st AGA Congress from September 12-14, 2024, we found ourselves reflecting on the rich history and innovation that this city embodies. Under the motto “Consensus, Compromise or Conflict?”, this year’s congress held its promise to be a landmark event, bringing together the brightest minds in arthroscopy and joint surgery for three days of knowledge exchange, networking, and personal interactions. One of the highlights was the AGA Cycling for Joints that is held every year the day prior to the congress start, organized by Martin Volz . The three available tours have been guided by none other than Andreas Geistlich (President of the Board of Directors, Geistlich Pharma ) and the cycling club Urdorf. “It was a pleasure ans a honor for me and my cycling friends to support the AGA bicycle community during CFJ,” summarizes Andreas Geistlich.

But Zurich holds a special place in our hearts for yet another reason. It was here, in 1851, that Geistlich’s journey began. From its humble beginnings, Geistlich has grown into a global leader in regenerative medicine, consistently pushing the boundaries of science and innovation.

AGA 2024 in Zurich was a huge success combining science, sports and user experience.

This was underlined during our lunch symposium where Robin Martin (Lausanne, CH), Matthias Steinwachs (Zurich, CH) and Arnd Vieh?fer (Zurich, CH) presented on the evidence and expertise of AMIC? and AMIC?+ in the lower extremities, but also preliminary results of a prospective randomized study on AMMR? Meniscus Wrapping have been presented.

Thanks Andreas Mueller (Basel, CH) and Dr. med. Christian Jung (Wil, CH) for bringing together the joint-preserving community in Zurich!

Geistlich will be there also next year when J. Christoph Katthagen and Prof. Dr. Johannes Zellner will “move on” in Hamburg, see you there!

Welcome to the Geistlich Family, Martin Rogge!

We are excited to announce that Martin Rogge has joined our team as the new Key Account Manager for the eastern part of Germany. Martin brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our team, making him a valuable addition to the Geistlich family.

Martin’s journey began in the healthcare sector, where he trained as a nurse. This background has given him a deep understanding of the processes and challenges within the operating room (OR). His hands-on experience in the OR allows him to connect with our clients on a professional and empathetic level, ensuring that their needs are met with the highest standards of care and expertise.

Before joining Geistlich, Martin worked in the orthopedic industry for several years. His extensive experience in this field has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of orthopedic products and solutions, making him well-prepared to support our clients and contribute to our mission of improving patient outcomes. “I am striving for a full and comprehensive acceptance of AMIC? Chondro-Gide? among both patients and surgeons in my territory,” explains Martin when asked about his motivation.

Martin Rogge (left) is welcomed by Rudi Braun (right), Head of Sales and Marketing Germany.

When not at work, you can meet Martin at the badminton court, playing soccer or while traveling in foreign countries exploring the world.

We are thrilled to have Martin on board and look forward to the positive impact he will undoubtedly make in his new role.
