Born in the country which does not exist anymore…

These days five years ago this book “Born in the country which does not exist anymore…” came to light, sharing my family generations story in Russia and USSR over the vibrating?XX century: October revolution, WWII, Gulag, cold war, perestroika.... Thank you #Ana Maury for your inestimable support in writing it!

My particular 25 years travel with Alcatel and Thales over telecommunications and security industries is also part of this book. It started in Madrid in 1990 when, as a young doctorate?from research lab of Moscow Institute of Technology, I moved to Madrid R&D center of Alcatel Standard Electrica – SESA.

Since then, many memorable moments shared with colleagues and friends from Alcatel and Thales, just to recall some of them: Network Planning Tools suitcase development at Madrid R&D center; China and Bangladesh nationwide transmission networks planning; Alcatel ?contracts in Brazil within Telebras privatization process; expatriation in Alcatel HQ at?54, rue de la Boétie, Paris; Digitel network deployment in Philippines; first commercial GSM network in Afghanistan under Agha Khan foundation partnership; New Zealand telecom outsourcing project…

And of course telecom & security projects developed as part of Alcatel and later Thales “Oil & Gas Dream Team”: Papco pipeline project in China and Pakistan; Algerian gas pipelines; refineries, pipelines and chemical plants in UAE and Saudi Arabia; SMAEGP gas development?and Pan-Arab pipeline in Syria; West Qurna II oil field security project in Iraq; Novatek′s Yamal LNG in Russia… and many others.

The book came to light, prompted by my daughter #Yulia Nitchiporenko curiosity about our ancestors and my move from Moscow to Madrid in 1990. She did the opposite move in 2014 after graduating from Madrid′s Complutense University, working 4 years for Russia Today HQ in Moscow.

When writing this book, I realized that perhaps one of the most important lessons learned through these years is that life never ceases to surprise us, that it always reserves changes and challenges for us, that it may easily turn everything that one takes for granted, no matter how much we are sure of the solidity of our vital, professional or personal moment...

Lucky me to keep some photos which remind me places and faces, and which I would like to share with my former colleagues!

It is very important to keep looking forward knowing that many things await us ahead and the end of the story is still far away!
