Is Boris a Liar - or is he just Thick?
I was on GB News this morning discussing Boris Johnson's resignation as an MP.
It didn't take long before the 'usual suspects' were defending the self serving, former PMs actions, and condemning everyone from Harriet Harman to Rishi Sunak (now that's what I call a broad church) for the downfall of their cult leader.
Asked to comment, I reeled off some of Johnson's 'highlights' in his bid for the title 'liar' of the century.
He misled the Queen over the poroguing of parliament. He lied to the DUP about the Northern Ireland protocol. He gave the guy who had facilitated an £800,000 loan for him the chairmanship of the BBC. He threw multiple parties in Downing Street when the rest of us were locked down. He ignored advice about appointing Chris Pincher to the Tory whips office, as he was facing charges of sexual misconduct - which subsequently Johnson claimed he knew nothing about - another lie. And, lets not forget, he lost two, or was it three, ethics advisors.
Those who have followed Johnson's career will not be in the least bit surprised at his outrageous behaviour. He was sacked from a newspaper for lying to the editor. He was sacked from then-Tory leader Michael Howard's shadow cabinet, after lying to him.
Boris' disciples cry 'foul' or claim he didn't understand the rules. Well, as I said on the TV this morning, he's either thick, or he's a liar. Either way, he's not fit to be the prime minister of this country.
