Boring Podcasting vs. LeadGen Podcasting

Boring Podcasting vs. LeadGen Podcasting

If you’re still podcasting the old way, you’re leaving money, connections, and growth on the table.

Here’s the truth:

Lead Gen Podcasting is the future.

“Boring Podcasting” is just… well, boring.

Let me break it down:

What Is Boring Podcasting?

- You invite random guests, hoping for an interesting conversation.

- You focus on downloads and views—metrics that don’t pay the bills.

- You record, edit, and publish, but nothing happens.

End result:

Lots of effort, little ROI.

You’re stuck in the content hamster wheel, wondering why podcasting “doesn’t work.”

What Is Lead Gen Podcasting?

- You invite Ideal Customer Personas (ICPs)—people you want as clients or partners.

- You focus on relationships, not downloads.

- Every guest is a potential business opportunity.

End result:

- You build trust with high-value prospects in 30 minutes.

- 10% of your guests convert into paying clients.

- You generate revenue, not just content.

The Key Differences ??

Boring Podcasting:

- Guests chosen at random.

- Focused on views and followers.

- No clear ROI.

- Operates like a hobby.

Lead Gen Podcasting:

- Guests are your ICP.

- Focused on relationships and deals.

- Each episode = a sales opportunity.

- Operates like a growth engine.

Why Lead Gen Podcasting Works:

1?? It’s a Networking Magnet

- A podcast is the ultimate Trojan Horse.

- It’s not a cold email.

- It’s not a pitch.

- It’s an invitation to share their expertise.

- Your guest isn’t just a guest—they’re a potential client, partner, or investor.

2?? It Scales Your Brand and Authority

- While building relationships, you’re also creating content that:

- Positions you as a thought leader.

- Attracts inbound leads.

- Expands your reach across multiple platforms (via repurposed clips).

3?? It’s Built for ROI

Here’s the play:

- Invite high-value prospects onto your show.

- Build trust and rapport during the episode.

- Follow up with value, and pitch your offer when the time is right.

- If your offer is $3,500/month, and you convert even 5% of your guests—

- That’s $17,500/month in new revenue.

Why Boring Podcasting Is Dead

The old way of podcasting—chasing downloads, editing endlessly, and waiting for ad deals—just doesn’t cut it anymore.

The market is oversaturated with hobbyists chasing vanity metrics.

The winners?

They’re leveraging podcasting as a lead gen tool, not just a content channel.

Final Thought: The Future Is Lead Gen Podcasting

You can keep doing podcasting the old way and hope something sticks.

Or you can switch gears and:

- Build relationships.

- Generate revenue.

- Turn your podcast into a growth machine.

Stop podcasting for downloads. Start podcasting for deals.

The choice is yours.

I agree with all that you said, I have done both, and on an internet radio station as well. When I was in the game, which I will be again soon, I interviewed potential partners, collaborators, and key figures in the growth of my overall organization. And in the process, I learned a lot from some really great people.
