BORED IS THE NEW BANE...

It is a catch 22. Inspite of being in Unlock mode, most of us are still confined to the safe haven we call home. It’s a regular day.. perhaps mundane too, as we are all involved in something that we do as a manner of routine.

Corona will go at some point but will leave behind its traces of frustration, depression, anxiety and ofcourse sight issues! With the amount of time we spend in front of a screen, vision is the next crisis looming large!

So, at a time like this – what is it that can prevent boredom from being the biggest bane in life?

It all boils down to making the most of NOW. Being able to enjoy your own company is not something for the faint at heart. And I use this phrase liberally for it is the naked truth. Addictions will take you to someplace pleasant and dreamy for a while.. but after that peak, the valley will seem deeper.. The high will get higher and the low lower until there will come a time when you no longer have the will or motive to ride the rollercoaster!

But life is yours to live… The journey is yours to walk. And if you don’t have it in you to love yourself, then you are simply riding the wave of expectation that someone will help you glide over.. But that someone may or not be trespassing right then..

There is a reason why as children we are prompted to develop a hobby or a passion for things that don’t fit into our mundane day. Whatever creative or technical streak it may be, it will help you stay attuned and engrossed, right till its time you bid the world adieu.

Friends and family are there but at some point they will have their own lives so where will that leave you? Frustrated, helpless and lonely.

It is never too late for anything that your heart wants to try and neither is it too early. There has got to be some point in your day that you want to treat yourself to and that’s not being selfish.. its actually a form of investing… Investing in you so that your future screams SANE… not bane!

Boredom seeps in when you spend your days amidst frivolous banter and nothingness. It gives you nothing productive to look forward to, it gives no adrenalin rush and neither does it give you food for the soul. It’s a mere waste.

Instead of looking back at life with a ‘wish I had’ sense of craving, wouldn’t it be wiser to sit back while you still can and do what to wish to, while the parts of you still move like clockwork?

So, how about we put aside the moaning and the groaning and begin a little investment today.
