8 年Interesting subject indeed. An amazing dichotomy is that while we acknowledge that the world has shrunk and that we are one global village, very little is invested in understanding culture. Cross Cultural Management plays a significant role in determining success or failure of an expatriate. There are too many people in circulation with a view that their culture is superior to the next persons. Expatriate success is defined in many ways by understanding and respecting the culture of the place of work or team member, even if it is a virtual team. For example the American has a long term horizon of five years, a Chinese 500 years - both manifestations of culture. The ability to deal with diversity and culture would play a significant role in how cross border and virtual teams perform and carry out business. Culture Management is unfortunately dealt with only in management programs and it needs to find a place diverse educational discourses.
