The world's oceans are in a sorry state. We have been lamenting about the steady flow of pollution and waste for decades. Recent research and fine documentaries have recorded just how disastrous the situation is for us all.
Plastics form some of the largest threats to the food chain and health as a whole. An acceptance that if it can be manufactured then it must be good for us, has led us way down along a slippery slope. Hidden ingredients and blindness to reality have caught up.
Sadly, even in a united European Union divisions in national policies on recycling are visible. Consumers in Germany and Finland have been returning plastics under a deposit system for years. In Britain and Spain people are merely encouraged to separate their waste. Thus, percentages of reuse are far lower.
One aspect of the upcoming annual water sports fair is "Love your Ocean". The project presents possible ways that the industrial and scientific communities as well as society in general can protect the world’s oceans and climate already today.
The "boot" Düsseldorf is the largest water sports trade fair in the world. This is a fine example of stakeholder involvement in the great topics of our time.
A full nine days of spectacular exhibits offer visitors fascination and inspiration. From stunning luxury super yachts, motor boats, pleasure craft and technical equipment to paddling, wakeboarding, surfing, diving, beachlife, marinas and holiday destinations, the theme is bigger, better and more! For almost 50 years, expert advice and comprehensive information have joined hand in hand with a unique visitor experience and terrific fun right in the heart of Düsseldorf.
Flatwater Pool, Standing Wave & Skimboarding
The 1,400 m2 pool and the THE WAVE surfing, standing and skimboarding facilities are located in the brightly-lit, 13,000 m2 hall 8a. All well-known manufacturers will be presenting their products, while selected flatwater resources can be tried out directly every day between 10 am and 6 pm in the 65 m pool. Swimming trunks and a towel are all that need to be brought along. Neoprene suits will be available in the hall. Many of the shops here and in hall 12 are selling last season’s equipment and gear at attractive prices
The 9 m wide stationary or standing wave invites visitors to surf. Heights of 1-1.5 m and water depth of 1.4 m create a much more realistic surf feel. Guaranteed to be fun for professionals, children or beginners. Pre-book a slot online free of charge. Advance registration is not necessary for the flatwater pool.
The music in the hall will start to get somewhat louder at 5 pm every day, when demand for the numerous seats in the lounge will be increasing. A perfect end to the day is simply relaxing in a deck chair with a cocktail in your hand.
Professional stand-up paddlers will be demonstrating their skills at this year’s SUP Wave Masters on January 20 and 21, the first weekend of the trade fair.
Luxury Sector
With classically beautiful motor boats and luxurious creations, the luxury halls 5, 6 and 7a are even bigger, better and more diverse than before. They offer plenty to see and admire from fast, streamlined tenders and fast tow-in motor boats to large luxury yachts, some more than 40 m long.
The focus of boot INTERIOR on interior design of luxury yachts leaves nothing to be desired. Luxury interior furnishings are being presented as well as special technical innovations.
The German Superyacht Conference on January 24 is designed for the international trade visitors to boot Düsseldorf where papers will also be presented in English.
Super Yachts
Halls 15 to 17 will make any sailor’s heart beat faster. The halls will be full to the brim. Numerous premieres of large 60 to 70 ft sailing yachts can also be expected. Interest in multihull models has also increased by leaps and bounds, on the back of a veritable boom in recreational sailing. All the different aspects of recreational sailing will be covered at the Sailing Centre.
Motor Boats & Yachts
Both newcomers and experienced owners can find motor boats and yachts, boats with outboard motors and jetskis in abundance at the boot. Everyone who is anyone in the international motor boat market is represented in halls 9 and 10.
Love Your Ocean
The action stand in Hall 4 encourages all who are interested to get involved. Including children. People are being galvanised by this project that presents possible ways that the industrial and scientific communities as well as society in general can protect the world’s oceans and climate already today.
Diving
Having had mass appeal for a long time, diving is now more popular than ever. Besides remote travel destinations, options are also available to enthusiasts in lakes, rivers and indoor diving facilities in European metropolitan areas.
The atmosphere in the area around the diving pool and diving tower is infectious. Experts from the community, hobby divers, leading manufacturers and diving tour operators are again at boot Düsseldorf for a unique, nine-day diving party.
The Dive Centre is designed like a diving base to appeal to all diving enthusiasts interested in shopping, networking with other like-minded visitors and experiencing live how a pool and tower dive is prepared professionally.
Technology
Providing a veritable paradise for technical enthusiasts, hall 11 is where motor boat owners and sailors can acquire the latest equipment and electronics for their vessel. Experts from the boating community are also on hand at the Refit Centre to offer advice about the restoration and renovation of second-hand boats.
Beach Life
For shopping at its best, hall 12 reveals a wide range of maritime clothing, decorative articles and accessories for the on-board pantry or salon as well as fun toys for the water.
Children and their parents will be pleased to hear that the bouncy pirate castle will be back at boot too, so that young visitors can play while adults browse the stands undisturbed.
The boot.club lounge provides free WLAN access for all members. Membership of the club is free and entitles members to purchase online tickets for just € 15. Over 90,000 members already take advantage of the benefits the club has to offer.
Travel World
The most beautiful destinations for water sports holidays are being presented on the stage of the new Travel World in hall 13. Concentrating on holidays by and on the water, even a 90 m waterway is available to try out paddling. Houseboat suppliers, charterers and well-known travel agencies are available where bookings can be made directly.
Marinas, charter companies and sailing schools highlight popular international sailing locations in hall 14. Children and the young at heart can take over the tiller themselves in the sailing school pool. Enormous wind machines make sure there is a stiff breeze to send the dinghies skimming across the water. Extensive information about sailing and motor boating on oceans, waterways and lakes is also available.
With 16 halls and 18 theme worlds, boot is the international trendsetter in the industry. It is the leading destination anywhere in the world for everyone who loves sports in, by and on the water.
