Insights From Experts
While searching for solutions to increase effective organisational communication, we asked Wizly expert Rob Bier, a scaling expert and strategist who has worked with and helped many global companies scale effectively and build high-performing teams, for his outlook.
According to him, it is easy to create an environment of trust and communication between 2 to 3 people- but, if the team is more than 3, introducing open communication can be challenging.
For organisations with several decision-makers, Rob recommends creating small groups or pairing people in couples and introducing specific protocols that help build a sense of trust. He then recommends building that trust and open communication in smaller groups and slowly bringing everybody together.

“It is a tried and tested method and has helped numerous organisations scale up. Why is this effective? Take a team of 10 people. They have varying levels of trust with no history and culture of open communication, and if you try to engineer open communication overnight, it will rarely be successful, or you will make little to no progress.”
Rob also talks about how to communicate effectively to generate commitment among employees towards the company.
Another problem, especially among the management leaders, is disagreeing in a way that doesn’t give any positive output. It is just that I am right, you are wrong. These conversations sound like debates, and the thinking never merges to make a unified decision. So people can learn skills to advocate their views but also connect them much more effectively with the views of others, and that is truly in alignment and agreement with the company vision, says Rob.
The third problem is the decision-making process. In most organisations, if a CEO talks about making a decision, most people will agree to their decision to avoid conflict.
"But here if the CEO asks the question differently, like ‘Well, we had a good discussion, and I would like to move ahead on this. But before that, is there anybody who does not agree with the following statement or feels that it requires more discussion?’ It is also known as 'Mining for Disagreement'." Rob Bier
