This will boost your interview results (& no one teaches it this way)

I’ve been in the world of interviewing since I was 16 years old. And I can look back and say that this ingredient has been one I have always used.? ?

In many different ways, and today, I’ll share a concrete example of one of the ways. ?

So let me share it with you so you can use it too! It’s simple. ?

It’s a chemical messenger to the brain known as dopamine. You may have heard of it!? ?

When you understand how dopamine works, you will understand 99% more about how people’s brains work (including your own).? ?

Dopamine is what causes people to take action, it’s that simple. It’s what makes us want to get up from the comfy couch to get a piece of cake from the fridge.? ?

Even though it is more effort to get up and get the cake out of the fridge and cut it and put it on a plate etc, the dopamine we get from it after, is what makes it worth the extra effort. ?

It’s also what makes you want to keep learning new things. It’s what makes you sign up for that new exciting certification or training, it’s what makes you want to accomplish goals, the dopamine is in the achievement!

And it is such a strong chemical that it keeps you coming back for more of whatever your brain has linked it up to.? ?

It’s what keeps drug addicts chasing their next high. (When it’s taken over to the dark side)?? ?

It’s the rush you get when you’re running that marathon, and you’re crossing the finish line or the quantum vortex where you lose the concept of time and space when you’re binge-watching your favorite show on Netflix or watching your favorite creator’s YouTube videos.? ?

BUT….? ?

Did you know that you can learn how to create “mini dopamine hits” when interviewing…? ?

And this will keep the interviewers wanting more, and wanting to take action to hire you, and quickly, before someone else does. ?

You can create mini dopamine hits in many ways: ?

Here’s a concrete example of how you can do it using something you’ll use in interviews anyway… The power of story.? ?

This formula is what keeps them wanting more: ?

The way you start your story is important: ?

I start one of my stories with this intro:? ?

“During the company event, 200 people were left waiting for buses that were never coming, and it was all my fault.”? ?

“I was responsible for planning this event and this detail in particular was my oversight…. I was incredibly embarrassed, mortified and had to think quicker than I’d ever thought before… ” ?

See what just happened there?? ?

Your interest is now piqued:? ?

How did I get out of this situation?? ?

What happened? WHY weren’t the buses coming?? ?

When the story unfolds they get their dopamine rewards as I unfold the informational details. ?

This is a steady stream of dopamine in action, it’s what keeps someone on the edge of their seat. ?

To create a dopamine response with a story: ?

??I start the story with an unexpected beginning, (Kind of jumping into the future part of the story) to create a cliffhanger. Instead of starting with the regular “Once upon a time I planned a company event” zzzzzz ?

??I make sure the story is fun for me to tell, and I fill in the details to the questions anyone would have, based on how I started the story.? ?

??I gave them the end results in a way where they would feel affirmed and confident that I had learned new skills from this mistake! (Which gives them a feeling of re-assurance about me in general and shares my human, fallible, vulnerable side all in one sitting)?

?

Telling a story in this way increases their “pay attention receptors” and raises the chances that they will be even more interested in the next thing you have to say. And the next and the next!? ?

Plus you can feel really good about it because you told a congruent story that was giving them info they needed to learn about you to feel confident in what they can expect when they hire you. Plus, they were entertained as well!? ?

Am I revealing all the secrets here? ?

Trust me I’ve got a lot more to share. ?

All you need to do is get on my email list by signing up for the next 3 day series!? You’ll learn more about the unconscious process behind what gets people to hire you.? ?

You’re already ahead of the game by reading this now.? ?

So pay attention.? ?

You will learn that getting someone to hire you has nothing to do with your education, certifications, amount of years of experience, how good your resume looks, or even how hard you work.? ?

It’s knowing how to trigger specific unconscious emotional responses in your interviewers. ?

...So they can smoothly go from “We just met” to “Please accept our offer!”? ?

And in interviews, we need this tool. Because otherwise, it can take weeks and months to form relationships that feel safe enough to hire. (That’s why they put people through all these hoops).? ?

I've applied these exact techniques to landing offers multiple offers, closing deals and to helping my clients every single day.? ?

And in the upcoming 3-day training I’ll be creating all new material on how to share this with you so you can start applying it yourself. ?

We’ll be using the dopamine response to create a fun interviewing experience and you’ll be able to work it masterfully, plus there’s more than one way to use it, there are many many ways!

The example I shared today is just one.? ?

If you haven’t done a 3-day training with me yet, it will be the most fun you’ve had all year.?

-Natalie

P.S. Important caveat. Learning techniques of the unconscious mind is not an overnight thing. It’s a practice of building skills. Just like my daughter is learning how to get to sleep on her own now, the more she soothes herself when she wakes up in the night, the better she gets at it. It takes real attention, focus, and commitment.? ?

You won’t find me telling you that there are overnight quick fixes because as much as I wish there were, they don’t exist here (or anywhere) and you should run far away immediately from anyone who tries to sell you one.? ?

Stay tuned for the next 3-day Training!? ?

Coming up in October! This will be the last training of the year and the most powerful!

Right. We need to create a dopamine response. Great piece, Natalie Fisher.
