Boost your Immune

The immune system protects you from disease-causing microorganisms, but sometimes it needs a boost. There are many ways to boost your immune system naturally, including:

  • Minimize stress. Stress suppresses the immune system, so find healthy ways to manage it, such as prayer, meditation, deep breathing, or exercise.
  • Hydrate regularly. Lymph fluid, which carries immune cells throughout the body, is made up of water. When you're dehydrated, lymph fluid moves more slowly, impairing your immune system.
  • Exercise regularly. Exercise boosts circulation, making it easier for immune cells to travel throughout the body. Aim for at least 15 minutes of exercise most days of the week.
  • Maintain a healthy diet. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein. These foods provide the nutrients your immune system needs to function properly.

Other healthy lifestyle habits that can boost your immune system include:

  • Maintaining a healthy weight
  • Getting enough sleep
  • Avoiding smoking

Supplements may also help boost the immune system, but talk to your doctor before taking any.
