Boost Your Efficiency at Work

Stressed Shanti was always racing against the clock and could never leave the office on time for her yoga classes. Her friend, Productive Amit, shared some tips that had helped him become more efficient at work, allowing him to leave on time every day to play basketball!

Plan, Plan, Plan:

Take the time to plan your year, quarter, month, and week in advance, and jot down your goals in handy to-do lists. Set specific objectives with deadlines, like achieving a 90% customer satisfaction rate this quarter or submitting three change requests this week. There's a great sense of accomplishment in checking off completed tasks!

Identify and Prioritize Tasks:

Determine which tasks are crucial to completing on time and prioritize them over less urgent activities. Focus on projects nearing their deadlines or any time-sensitive tasks that need immediate attention.

Follow Your Own Rhythm and Workflow:

Whether you thrive in the morning or at night, identify when you're most productive and tackle your most challenging work during those hours. For example, solve complex coding problems when you're in the zone. Create a daily workflow that suits you—like coding in the morning, making phone calls before lunch, and handling urgent tasks before 4:30 PM.

Minimize Distractions and Use Them as Rewards:

Recognize the distractions that consume your time. Do you love chatting with friends? Or can’t resist scrolling through social media? Save those indulgences for after you've completed your time-sensitive tasks.

Me Time – Recharge Yourself:

Carve out some 'me time' during the day. Take a short walk or catch up on the news. Even just 10 minutes away from your desk can be refreshing. Often, stepping back allows your mind to generate new ideas or solutions to tricky problems. Consider tidying your desk during breaks between intensive tasks.

Enjoy the Rewards:

By implementing these tips, you may find yourself with more time to engage in activities you love—whether it’s hitting the gym, learning a new skill or sport, or spending quality time with loved ones!
