So, it's a bit of a surprise that British Airway’s latest safety video has turned into a summer blockbuster on YouTube.? It's clocked up half a million views with its clever take on the classic British costume drama and become an unlikely advertisement for the airline.

The shift toward degrowth challenges our deeply ingrained perceptions that conflate happiness as synonymous with high consumption activities (e.g. travel, material things). Instead, the movement challenges us to redefine a fulfilling life as one that prioritises meaningful connections with the planet and sees the community as a stronger relational driver of things like care and exchange.

Aside from top-down initiatives, like a move into more democratically managed resources and reconsidered economic priorities, at the business level, we should be aware of and consciously design away from presenting concepts around happiness with higher consumption, everywhere from advertising to product development.
