Just in case you’re out of the loop.. retargeting is a form of digital marketing (usually through paid advertising and organic outreach) in which you target consumers based on their previous interactions with your brand. Retargeting is just a piece to the ever-so complex digital marketing funnel, but can be HIGHLY profitable when used correctly. Your brand’s retargeting should span across all of your channels from paid traffic on any platform to email and SMS marketing.

1 - Cross & Upsell Existing Customers (and Visitors) ??
The most heavily used form of retargeting is showing ads to visitors that came to your website and left without making a purchase. While to many this may be common knowledge, I have to mention it just in case it isn’t, because this is a must.
What’s less commonly considered but just as powerful, is targeting existing customers! Using a custom audience, you can actually target customers that have already made a purchase, or subscribed — where you can show them complementary products that they may be interested in based on what they purchased initially.
What’s important to keep in mind with any retargeting strategy is what kind of audience you’re speaking to. Regardless of whether or not they made a purchase, they’ve checked out the brand, and they know who you are. Needless to say, your copy / offer / hook / and everything else should be unique to them. They don’t need the same long form informational or introductory creatives your cold Top-of-funnel audience needs.
2 - Use Retargeting to Reduce Cart Abandonment ??

Luckily, putting a slash through that value for your brand doesn’t have to be rocket science! ??
I recommend creating a custom audience to target visitors that view your site. This point goes directly hand-in-hand with that above, and is just one more super helpful way to make the most of all that hard earned traffic.
When they fill their cart, you can kindly remind them what they forgot to finish buying, or simply work on drawing their attention to other products they could also potentially be interested in.

3 - Re-Engage With Your Regulars ??

You can use dynamic product ads to show your potential customers products that they have already viewed and interacted with but have yet to purchase. You could also use this on previous customers to them related upsells and cross sells that could be super interesting to them!
