Worldwide, vegetarians total 375 million. Are you one of them?

Europe's vegan meat and dairy market is set to hit €7.5 billion by 2025, according to a new report. ING published its Growth of meat and dairy alternatives is stirring up the European food industry report today. It says the meat and dairy alternatives market is seeing 'rapid growth' of 10 percent per year.

Now more than ever there is a greater stress on what we are eating and the quantity of it. According to a study by the WWF, to produce one kg of beef steak, it takes 15,500 liters of water and 70 percent of the world's fresh water used to grow plants as fodder for livestock.

By replacing meat with vegetarian sources of protein, (nuts, seeds, beans and lentils, for example), we can reduce carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions. The whole food production process of farm-to-plate totals 30% of all global greenhouse gas emissions.

With all of this taken into account, it does not surprise me that the Vegan / vegetarian industry is growing at such exponential rates and is set to continue to grow.
