DoorDash results underwhelm, Uber remains preferred food delivery stock pick. DoorDash Inc’s latest quarterly results failed to galvanise interest on Wall Street, with the San Francisco-based food delivery company’s share price falling 13% in opening exchanges (Proactive Investors).

Glovo to halt operations in Ghana. Glovo, a leading food delivery platform, has revealed plans to cease operations in Ghana as of May 10, 2024, despite substantial investments made over the past two years to enhance its services (Instinct Business).

The Supply Side: Online grocery sales expected to reach $204.61B in 2024. According to market research firm eMarketer, U.S. digital grocery sales will grow 11.5% to reach $204.61 billion this year (TBP).

Kroger considers Disney+ perk for grocery delivery members. The move comes as the market attempts to compete with e-commerce leaders such as Amazon (Global Data).

DoorDash says it performed well in first quarter amid uptick in grocery delivery demand. Grocery delivery in the U.S. has seen a steady rate of growth this year as the grocery retail sector has continued to grow (Scripps News).

Online Grocery Sales to Grow 3X Faster Than In-Store. Meanwhile, Amazon is offering unlimited grocery deliveries for $9.99 per month (Globest.com).

Uber Eats focuses on SMEs with new grocery delivery tools. This week Uber Eats announced the addition of some new features, directly aimed at grocery delivery. Interestingly, rather than highlighting supermarket giants such as Coles and Woolworths, the company has argued the benefits for smaller and independent grocers (Smart Company).

Cross-border e-commerce sales up 32% in Europe. Cross-border e-commerce in Europe accounted for sales of €237 billion last year (excluding travel), an annual increase of 32%, Cross-Border Commerce Europe reported on Thursday (Brussels Times).
