Books Maketh a full life- My list

Today is ??(US) National Book Lovers Day / August 9.

?A day to celebrate authors as well as readers.

?Trust the #booklover in you would welcome a recommendation list.

?I am sharing 10 books that I read in the last 12 months + some all-time favourites. These are the books that intrigued me enough to share with the world.

?First, last 10 books I picked this year. Latest read is on the top!

?1. Aashish Chopra’s #FastCheapAndViral

A must read for anyone who wants to be in the business of internet marketing. New age marketers will get a lot of nuggets about IM before the social media. Thoroughly enjoyed the simplicity & verocity of Chopra. Can be categorised as a DIY Motivation book for budding DMs & creators. Thanks indeed for the book Mr Chopra.

?2. Unfinished by #PriyankaChopra

It is a feel-good book as a woman & Indian. Priyanka has grown by leaps & bounds as an artist and leading a celebrated life today. She shares my first name and during my college days I detested the fact. Not any longer.

?I completed this book on #Audible and probably her familial voice made the difference, I guess. It was like a bollywood saga in audio mode. You will experience shades of life. A lot to relate for millennials.

3.?Only love is real by Dr Brian?Leslie?Weiss

This is a book for those who want to walk within and greet their souls. Yes, love thy soul. For your soul is on constant journey.

?The book has PLR sessions. I have interest in the subject, so the book was enriching for me. Pick, only if you want to want to explore the unfounded PLR stories.

4. The?7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R Covey

I am sure many of you would have already read this well renowned book. This is one of its kind self-help books. Highly coveted work by Covey. I found this book a fundamental journal to human phycology. Too many pages, found it lengthy yet relevant. Should be part of formal education in schools or colleges. At many instances, I realised why I am reading this so late.

5.???An Unsuitable Boy by Karan Johar

I wanted to read this book many-many years ago. Happened to listen this book again on audible after the lockdown. Full of emotion, drama & masala, like any of Dharma Production. The vulnerabilities of Karan are subtly exposed in the narrative. Probably Karan wants to say, he too is a human & he works very hard to look perfect and create lager than human frames on screen. A pleasant read.

6.?????Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

Picked this book as it is often celebrated as one of the best ones in personal finance category. However, I found the book bit outdated and could not relate with the ideology and narrative. Though loved the style of the Robert Kiyosaki. You should read the book for its packaging and art form. May be personal finance has grown a lot from the time the book was written.

?7.?????A Monk's Guide to a Clean House and Mind by Shoukei Matsumoto

Pick this book if you are finding hard to find a balance in your life. There is something in this book that made me push my efforts to gain control in my life. I was overwhelmed with work & personal life, especially bogged down by missing kids’ PTM & movie promises, the book helped me understand how everything is in our control.

?8.?????The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment by Eckhart Tolle

Another great book. You will change forever. This book will end all the clutter in mind and bring back focus to NOW. The happiness is in the present moment. You will feel gratitude for what you have. A must read.

9.??The Animal Farm by George Ornwell

An allegorical work of fiction, and probably the best one known. This is book is fiction yet a classic satire on socio political and economic environment. The power of words is used to create a conflict. The animals design a revolt against humans. A very gripping read. You are bound to read & re-read.?

?10.??The Magic by Rhonda Byrne

A magic book to change your perspective towards life. Whether you are feeling low in life due to relationship, money or career, the journey with Byrne can change the outlook. You will learn to welcome changes in life and be more open to embrace success. A recommendation for each one.

?Next, 3 Books I want to re-read in coming months-

1.?????Who moved my Cheese by Spencer Johnson

I read this book in 2003 referred by my Creative Writing mentor Mr. Ramesh Menon

Why re-do? For its simplicity, eloquence & prudence for life. The book is a good reminder. I will also hand over this book to my 11 year old.

2.?????Monika Halan’s Let’s talk Money

Read in 2018. What a book! Though we can see so many PF influencers emerging on social media, Monika Halan Ma’am is the one who has literally demystified the saving & investing for the common man. This book is practical & easy to understand. Should be first personal finance book for anyone. A very candid & lovely book. I wan to re-read so that I gain more insights as a personal finance writer.?

3.?????The Animal Farm by George Ornwell

Suggested by a dear ex colleague. It is very intelligent piece of work and I do think its not easy to comprehend ornwell in single read.

?

Surely there is so much we learn as professionals through reading. I do not stick to one genre. I keep on shifting from one genre to another and feed juice to my brain. On this #bookloversday?I would like to know about your journey.

Thanks @LinkedIn for Creators for the prompt.
