Books Donation Appeal

Sunderland Literacy Aid is a newly founded Community Interest Company focused on increasing the literacy rate within the Sunderland area, among other projects. If we're able to secure funding in the future we're also wanting to run literacy and creative writing workshops for those interested who would otherwise not afford paying for any. All workshops will be delivered free of charge.

SLA's charitable side of things consists in our collaboration with other local charities who are working with people of all ages that are going throuigh a rough time, such as Centerpoint (Sunderland) and TogetherForChildren (Sunderland) as well as families (that we've tracked down with the help of the local council) struggling to make ends meet. We're also building ateam of volunteers to go at the Sunderland Hospital and donate books to those who are there for longer periods of time. There's so much a good books can do when you're tied up to a hospital bed with nothing available but watch TV.

We are asking for help in books, any genre for all ages, even second hand ones. We want to redistribute them within the Sunderland area where and as needed. We're trying to help, along with other entities, families as well as children orphans by supplying them with free books/textbooks/notebooks/pencils/markers, and hopefully get them into reading/writing/talking about books/creating as much as possible.
