Book reviews from early reviewers
Tor Mesoy 莫翩 Executive Coach - Strategic Adviser
Helping senior leaders and leadership flourish and maximize impact.
Early “beta” readers of the book Musings on Leadership have provided valuable reviews. I am thrilled that reviews have trickled in from all continents, from people of all ages (at least from the twenties to their seventies) and from such diverse professions: CEOs, musicians, university professors, authors, teachers, financial analysts, entrepreneurs, public sector leaders, guides, managing directors, coaches, students, writers, medical doctors, and consultants … just to name a few. Goes to show: leadership opportunities are everywhere and strong interest in leadership is everywhere.
Below are two reviews, from people in very different walks of life and at different stages of their personal leadership journeys.
The book is available pre-order here, at a steeply discounted pre-order price (valid until Sep 10th): https://authorexperts.club/show-book/B07WZJSRYK
Review from: Ryan Roberts, CFA, Senior Investment Analyst, Hong Kong SAR:
This is a deceptively short book which explores very critical topics on leadership. In spite of being a quick read, but it goes deeply into the subject matter. It is arranged as a guidebook, with core concepts presented in a compartmentalized fashion that one can refer to with little dependency on other parts.
This is an extremely accessible book. Concepts are explored in a cooperative, not imposing, way. Given the complexities of applying leadership skills in practice, that feels like a meaningful approach. Contributing authors impart their experience and wisdom as guideposts, providing the reader with the necessary tools to explore their own best path forward.
This is also a very practical book. Leaders at all levels can benefit from reflecting on core themes contained in its pages. Not only will individual leaders, so will their teams and colleagues who are charged with executing on leaders' vision to reach shared goals.
One concept which resonated with me was leaders' responsibility to their teams to support and empower them to achieve, a concept called servant leadership. In my experience, it can be easy for leaders to slip into an authoritarian, top-down style that does little to inspire real engagement and participation from those being led. By reframing the relationship between leaders and their teams as a symbiotic one, a new and more powerful entity can emerge.
I recommend this book without hesitation and am convinced that readers will find themselves referring back to it in the future, quite often.

Review from: David Harris, ex-CEO, who is based in Sydney, Australia and works with executives across multiple countries on a range of leadership programs
I really enjoyed this anthology aptly titled Musings on Leadership. Tor Mesoy and his co-authors share their extensive experience in the field of leadership in a thought- provoking series of short essays. What struck me in reading these was the authenticity that each of the authors bring to their writings and the wisdom they are able to share. I have worked with Tor for a number of years and, as I read this anthology, it was as though I could hear him working with groups of leaders in sharing his thoughts on leadership. For me, the chapter on leading self was particularly relevant and I take several of the learnings from this into my own leadership work with executives.
